5one of the best of the best  Aug 30, 2003 By Alejandra Vernon "artist & illustrator"
One of America's greatest talents, Vince Gill has consistently written terrific songs, and as a performing artist is a superb guitarist and singer; of his many fine recordings, this triple-platinum, multi-award winning CD is a personal favorite, with its mix of heartfelt love songs, two numbers that are inspirational, and a couple of rousing tunes that will make you want to put your dancing shoes on.

Highlights for me are: The old-time country sound of "Real Lady's Man", with its great fiddle work by Stuart Duncan, and background vocals by Allison Krauss, about a man who has given in to "liquor and a woman's tender kiss"; "What the Cowgirls Do" ("they love to cut a rug and chug-a-lug") is irrisistible, with a great melody, a toe-tapping beat, a razzle-dazzle guitar solo by Vince, and marvelous honky tonk piano playing by Pete Wasner. "South Side of Dixie" is the second up-tempo song, with more knockout musicianship from Vince and the fabulous group assembled in this CD..

The final track, "Go Rest High on that Mountain" is exquisite and incredibly moving, and was written in memory of Vince's much loved brother Bob. With a rendition that is perfection from Vince, he is joined by Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs in the chorus.
This song won the CMA 1996 Song of the Year, the 1995 Grammy for Best Country Song/Vocal Performance Male, and has become a country classic.
"I wish I could see the angel's faces / When they hear your sweet voice sing".
Recorded in 1994, the sound is good, and the booklet insert has all the lyrics, recording info and some nice photos. Total time is: 45'19.

5One of the best singer song writers in any genre  Mar 27, 2002 By David A. Seward
What can I say about Vince Gill that his many fans haven't already mentioned. I had never been particularly interested in country music. But, one day I was listening to a country radio station and Vince Gill was singing "When Ever You Come Around" and I was hooked. This CD is as consistant as all his others. Great lyics and superb musicianship. I rate this five stars as I believe Gill is one of the best singer songwriters in the world today.

5"When Love Finds You" -- Soaring vocals  Nov 20, 2001 By Anthony
Vince Gill has the most beautiful tenor voice I've ever heard. Gill's voice really shines on the tracks "Whenever You Come Around," "When Love Finds You," and "Go Rest High on that Mountain." Gill's voice is best suited for ballads, and that's what this CD consists of mostly.

5What a voice!!  Feb 23, 2001 By G. Sawaged
Vince's voice is best suited to ballads, and this album shows it off perfectly. "Whenever You Come Around" has to be one of the loveliest songs written, and Vince's tenor voice is perfect for it. "Go Rest High on that Mountain" is a very poignant song, originally written in memory of Keith Whitley. It brings tears to the eyes just to hear it. But this album is not just ballads...there are the up-tempo numbers too, like "What the Cowgirls do" and "South side of Dixie". This album is a must for all fans of country.
