5Loaded up and ready to go...!  Sep 29, 2007 By DJ Joe Sixpack
Wow. This is a great set of no-nonsense honkytonk country, intelligently written and performed with feeling and conviction. Jerry Kilgore had one album before this, a major label debut in 1999 that had modest success (and was also pretty rootsy and tradition-oriented). Here he returns with a bit more gravel in his gut and a pack of powerful, fun new songs (mostly his own, original material). The album opens with "What's It Take To Get A Drink In Here," a fiddle-backed Texas shuffle with an irresistible backbeat and a great sense of humor. This is the kind of country that Nashville *should have* been making for the last twenty years! A real treat for hard country fans in search of something they can play really loud. Highly recommended! (DJ Joe Sixpack)
