5Excellent Look at the Life of a Compelling Figure  Nov 20, 2003 By Greg T. Smith
I highly recommend the purchase of this video. It goes into superb detail and covers Kristofferson's background as a Rhodes Scholar, Golden Gloves boxer, his humble start and massive contribution to country music, and his varied and interesting movie career.

Along the way, Kristofferson allows access to some of the watershed moments and turning points in a life well lived. His conversation with a Mexican boxer after he lost a match was indeed intriguing in how it had such a huge impact on his life. His study of William Blake also allows us to take a good look at the foundation of his soul and world view. Perhaps the strongest moments in the video include his homage to Nashville and the massive risks he took to get his career started, his commentary on the deaths of Janis Joplin and others who didn't survive the road as he did, and interviews with his friends and colleagues Johnny Cash and Dennis Hopper.

Overall, this is a wonderful video that shouldn't be missed!!

2Not very informative  Sep 07, 2005 By Eric "Rico"
I thought finally a biography on Kris Kristofferson. It seems that by watching this dvd, you get more questions than answers. The beginning is okay, they talk about the early days but the documentary lacks early day viewing material. Would of been nice to see Kris perform in the late 60's early 70's. Then they talk about a few of his bigger movies like A star is born and Heaven's gate but no mention of his other great movies like Convoy, Welcome home and Songwriter. There's barely any mention of what he was up to during the late 70's and 80's.

I just think that more effort could of been put into this project and treat the fans to something decent. We only get some of the story. Hopefully something better will come along someday.

5The one to buy  Sep 12, 2006 By J. N. Raine
I couldn't disagree more with that other review. First saw this on TV in the UK and my video of it is worn out so I'm pleased to see it on DVD. There is loads of Kris on this film talking about his music (who cares about the films?) and some nice contributions from Johnny Cash, John Prine, Jackson Browne, and the hilarious Fred Foster amongst others. Kris takes us to old haunts in Nashville and sings songs solo on his guitar from his home. Lots of his views also on politics, booze, Janis Joplin, and yes, the movies too. This is a far better buy than the disappointing Breakthrough DVD which for some reason gets 5 stars! This is much more informative and the one to buy.

5Kris Kristofferson is so cool!  Feb 27, 2007 By Jeanette M. Hammons
This DVD was real interesting to watch. Kristofferson at 71 is still great at what he does. His last CD is way to cool. "This Old Road." You got to check it out.
